🌳 Inspired by the Wood Wide Web

The inspiration for The Gobo Method came from one of nature's most remarkable systems β€” the Wood Wide Web.

Beneath the forest floor, networks of fungi form connections with trees and other plants, allowing resources and chemical signals to move through an interconnected woodland ecosystem.

This idea β€” that everything is connected β€” lies at the heart of The Gobo Method.

Language is not taught as a collection of isolated exercises. Grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, activities and storytelling connect across the learning journey, with each lesson building naturally on what learners have already discovered.

The magical world of The Great Greenwood grew from this same idea, bringing nature, language and storytelling together as learners move through Stage 1 Foundations.

🌳 Everything is connected.

The Four Principles

The Gobo Method is built around four connected principles that guide learners from discovery to confident, creative use of English.

🌿 Connect

Build understanding by connecting new language with ideas, experiences and knowledge learners have already developed.

🌱 Explore

Discover language through stories, activities and meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity and engagement.

πŸͺΆ Create

Bring learning together through reading, storytelling and creative activities that encourage learners to express their own ideas in English.

πŸ„ Practise

Develop confidence through games, challenges and interactive activities that give learners opportunities to use English in different ways.

Discover it β†’ understand how it connects β†’ practise it β†’ use it creatively.

Stage 1 Foundations

Stage 1 Foundations brings Explore, Connect, Practise and Create together across eight progressive lessons. Grammar and vocabulary are introduced step by step, then revisited through listening, interactive activities, games, reading and storytelling.

As learners progress, they move from building words and sentences towards understanding meaning, connecting ideas and using English creatively.
